People live and live the whole world addicted to the drama. Hello, everyone. And welcome to the business of giving podcast. My name is Guy Dawson, and I'm the Executive Director of the cause marketing Chamber of Commerce. And we are an organization that brings businesses and nonprofit organizations together to create synergistic relationships that benefit the community. And we created the business of giving show to be a showcase for so many of the good things that are going on in our community in both the business and nonprofit worlds. And I was talking to some of the people that are going to be a part of the show today. And we're this is our one year anniversary of the business of giving show. It's just been a phenomenal ride over the last year, so many great people that we've had a chance to interview and speak with great nonprofit organizations, lots of business leaders, and we're looking forward to our second year on the air here at 91.5k. U and V love the relationship that we have. And we're looking forward again to showcasing a lot more people who are giving back to the community either through business or as nonprofit organizations. We got this Chamber of Commerce started in 2019. As I had mentioned before, we're all about the collaboration of of businesses and nonprofit organizations. And over the last few years, as we've evolved as an organization, we have become a resource for two of the pillars of the community. In my opinion, nonprofit organizations and for profit businesses are true pillars within the city of Las Vegas, the contributions that so many nonprofit organizations make, don't get the publicity that we feel that they should. And also the business world in any city, the contributions that businesses make to the economy and to the well being of the people who live within a city also don't necessarily get as much publicity as they deserve. And so this show is just a simple platform designed to bring more recognition to both of these entities. For this specific show. I got a good friend of mine who I've known for many years a man he's very philanthropic Scott a huge heart and he's going to be helping me co host the business of giving show today. Las Vegas is own executive producer of withdrawal music songwriter, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. The one and only T Oh, a oh,

Unknown Speaker 3:11
how you doing everybody? Thank you. Thank you guy for that warming. Welcome. It's a blessing to be here with amongst his great panel. Thank you very much.

Speaker 2 3:20
And I had talked about some of your your accolades, being a businessman and a musician, and how does philanthropy fit in with all of this?

Speaker 3 3:30
More Should I start, you know, it's a being a flange versus the it's a big step to go to the top right. And whatever the initiative that is, without the heart, it's, it's not much, but to give, it's a it's a good feeling, you know, and I'm very happy to be amongst you guys. We're here and for this great cause. And I'm very welcome, you know, to be here.

Speaker 2 3:52
Yeah, we you go through life and you come across kindred spirits in to TOA. Oh, and I met many years ago at a store. And we could do our own show just about how we met and our experiences. But it's just, it's just great to have people who you really are in alignment with to come and participate. And I said, I've seen a talent in in him many years ago for doing this. And so bringing him into the studio to help me co host this show. It's like a It's something that was absolutely meant to be right. Yeah.

Speaker 3 4:24
So absolutely. It was a pleasure meeting you that one day at the bookstore. It's funny how things happen, right. But things happen for a reason. I think if you have faith in God, and you have your goals straight. I don't think you have to chase for anything. I think you'll track everything you desire in life. That's right. Everything's divine. Yeah, everything's good. And I'm blessed to be here amongst you guys. And I'm excited and you know, whatever I contribute, I'm here, right? Yeah,

Speaker 2 4:48
this is going to be an exciting show today. It's exciting because I have a young woman who is in the studio. I literally used to see in a stroller. And that's is not often that you get a chance to see someone in a stroller and then many years later see them doing the amazing things that this young lady is doing. Her name is Vinod Glasgow and let me read you her bio vinna is an 11 year old who is the founder of toys for dogs, which was started in 2019 to help animal homelessness. She volunteers with other organizations consistently, like just the one project serving our kids and Ronald McDonald House charity. She also loves dance, piano, swimming, going on cruises and playing at the park. In February, she was Miss Nevada preteen and won the international title of Miss royalty international preteen, which focuses on being a model citizen by serving our communities. Her service and dedication is impressive for such a young person. I absolutely believe that. Welcome to the business of giving show Vin of Glasgow. Welcome.

Unknown Speaker 5:59
Welcome.

Unknown Speaker 6:00
Thank you. I'm so happy to be here.

Unknown Speaker 6:04
So Ben, how you doing? How's it how's your day going?

Unknown Speaker 6:06
Good. It's really good. I'm really, I'm all nervous, though.

Speaker 3 6:11
Okay, relax. You know, I think we're all a little nervous myself to you know, being here my first time. So I think it's okay, we'll be nervous together. How about that? So let me ask you, I've been here some great things about you. Guy, Ben told me a little bit about you. And I'm very impressed of the young lady that you are, and how your mom, he was only here somewhere hiding behind me or somewhere. I bet she's very proud of you. But I guess I got a few questions for you. Because I want to know, what inspired you to get where you are? And how do I know you? I know you're working on good things. But one of the things that you're doing is how did you get dogs, toys for dogs started.

Unknown Speaker 6:49
So how I got it started was I kind of just started making dog toys not really thinking about it's gonna be a nonprofit someday. But the I was working with, I was volunteering with hydrating the homeless, and we were passing out waters and food. And I saw lots of them had dogs. So I wanted to buy dog toys. But my mom said, That'll get expensive quick, right? So we wanted. So I think it's even better that I wanted to make dog toys because now I've made so many dog toys and helped so many dogs.

Speaker 3 7:34
That's good. You should be proud of yourself for that. Do you believe? Do you feel like a philanthropist? Do you know what that is? Now? Oh, somebody that does something great causes for? No, no money exchange, they just do it from the heart. That's where philanthropy is. So I'm very proud of you that you keep doing that. So keep it out because I believe when you give back to the committee, it's a very core valuable value. Like myself, I have a lot of strong connection with with with the community. I work with my tuition, my window their ambassadors, and I also do a lot of things for for other cancer societies. Ciao Haven, so it's good. I'm proud of you that you're in our team. So welcome. You know, I'm very proud of you for that.

Speaker 2 8:16
And then a with toys for dogs. I know many animals end up in shelters. If we can adopt what can we do to help animals get adopted?

Unknown Speaker 8:25
You can donate it, or the best thing is to share on social media. So more people can help out we even have like a list of things that we want and need to don't want to need that the shelters either requested us to donate to the shelters, or, or did you know that 6.5 million animals end up in shelters every year in the United States? I know that I know that. And only half of those get adopted. So what happens to the other half?

Speaker 3 9:05
That means that we need some improvement, right? They get euthanized. Yeah, we need to work on that. We need some something, some options. And I think you're a good option for that what you're doing is Grace a big acid. So thank you. Right. So I have a question for you. I know that you stay busy and you're philanthropist, like I said, so how do you how do you stay fun? How you how you have fun from all this?

Unknown Speaker 9:27
I love dance. I just joined the dance team where it's kind of like we have a competition thing. I don't know how to explain it and then I have piano lessons every Monday. Right? And I love going on cruises and I love swimming. My mom even says I'm a fish

Unknown Speaker 9:49
with your partner's your apartment marry me and a gorgeous mermaid.

Speaker 2 9:54
What's the next goal that you have for Toys for dogs? vinna

Unknown Speaker 9:59
Well, my goal for last year was to hit all 50 states. And I've got 48 so far. And I only have a few more to go. So my goal is to raise money for Toys for dogs so I can help more dogs.

Speaker 2 10:19
No, nice. Wow, that is a very ambitious goal. You are very ambitious young woman. Yes,

Speaker 3 10:27
she is. So I got a question for you. I mentioned it up a little bit if you don't mind guy. Oh, absolutely. So for a young girl that's younger than you. And they want to get inspired how to do what you do. What kind of advice do you have for them?

Unknown Speaker 10:50
I say like, if there's something you like, or even, like, I like animals, I think you should just follow. I think you should just do what makes you happy. And I also think that you should help as much people as you can. Or animals. I

Speaker 3 11:10
love that answer. I think I know that you're the age, you're 11 years old, right? And I want you to know that the example you learn to young girls, we need more of that, you know, we need them more we need people to give with their heart and help every every situation that we have in life, even if it dogs, even homes, people or anything has to do to contribute to the life so I think your example and I'm sure all your peers are very happy for you. So keep up the good job. You know, you're an example for myself. So good job.

Speaker 2 11:44
And then I know you are into pageants I've had the opportunity to actually be a judge in pageants that you've participated in. What What got you interested in wanting to participate in those?

Unknown Speaker 11:55
Um, so my mom did pageants and I'm pretty sure I don't even remember why I got into pageants, but now I want to keep in them because there's so much fun and I can make friends and I get to help animals, people, I don't know what to say.

Speaker 2 12:17
Right? What's the most fun that you have when you're in these pageants?

Unknown Speaker 12:20
I like making friends. I like interview but I do get a lot nervous. Very nervous before them kinda like this one.

Speaker 2 12:30
I think you're doing good right? You doing fantastic job and you you're very experienced in these pageants? Do you have a goal for where you want to go with the pageants?

Unknown Speaker 12:43
No. What does your heart tell you?

Unknown Speaker 12:49
I just want to have fun and train inspire people to do what they want to do.

Speaker 3 12:55
You are doing it now. So good job, you are doing it by every step that you're doing right now you get your inspiration to all of us. I feel like we all can take a little bit of that to ourselves in our daily life. So good job. Yeah,

Speaker 2 13:07
you're definitely an inspirational person Vana. And again, your your charity or your your sense of community. And this is something that I learned being a judge of these beauty pageants a couple of years ago, is the amount of contribution that young women like Vienna make to the community. You know, there's a lot of perceptions about beauty pageants and you have all these different opinions about them. But actually being a judge of one and asking these interview sessions like Vinod was talking about a second ago, hearing the way that these girls from very young ages which Vinum right four years old, five years old, they these kids by the time they're six or seven years old, they've done more community service than a lot of people have done their whole life as an average person. I agree. And people have no idea that that is such a big component of of being a pageant winner like than it is if people think about the beauty And the beauty is one aspect of it but there's so so much about it that's constructive is what I discovered from that experience and that's why I'm so proud of in what she's becoming because I know she works very hard right? I mean, this stuff isn't easy, right? Mina but it's fun, which is the most important so

Unknown Speaker 14:24
when I got a question for you so you've done the pageant right? What's the secret for a young leader your age stay beautiful inside?

Unknown Speaker 14:35
Um, for me, it's like believing in myself that I can do it.

Unknown Speaker 14:43
So good. Well,

Speaker 2 14:44
we got some information about you, Vanna if people want to reach out to this woman who is really making a big impact on the world and is young woman at the age of 11, who is doing an awful lot to make the world a better place you can join email her at venna blasto@gmail.com. She's also on IG, then a blast go. Also on IG at Toys for dogs.org. And on Facebook, toys for dogs. Do you have anything else that you want everyone to know about you, Vanna?

Unknown Speaker 15:20
I don't know. I think I'm good. But

Speaker 3 15:24
yeah, you're definitely good. You said, you said some good things when gratulations on all your accomplishment, and I see a bright future ahead of you.

Speaker 2 15:32
You're really I really admire your courage than of being willing to come into a studio with a bunch of adults and do some Yeah. You're, you're going to inspire a lot of people with this interview. So thank you so much. I interviewed Vince a couple of years ago. And it's just it's phenomenal again, to know someone then when they're literally a baby and then be interviewing them in a studio, you just never know what, what, where life is going to take you. So keep up the amazing work, then. I will. All right. Well, I wanted to make an announcement, the cause marketing Chamber of Commerce has an event that we're hosting on May the 20th, from 10am to 2pm. It's going to be at the United Way. It's called the cause and business education series workshop. And we've been hosting these events online for years, this is going to be our first in person event. And this event is going to be all about the operational aspect of business. I've talked about businesses with heart. And we've discussed that on this radio broadcast. But this particular event is going to give you some really deep dish training on different aspects of the nonprofit and for profit world. We're going to have a presenter from ADP, which is a business services company that's very well known around the world, they're going to be talking about a lot of different resources that small business owners can tap into to make their businesses run more effectively. We also have the Small Business Association is scheduled to come and do a presentation that benefits nonprofits and for profit businesses. Then we have a woman from a nonprofit called Horses for Heroes. It's a nonprofit organization that helps people who've been traumatized, particularly veterans through horse therapy, which is called equine therapy. It's just a phenomenal experience. If you've ever gotten to go on one of these ranches, where people get around horses, and it's like a magical experience. It's it's just wonderful what she does. 17 years she's been running this nonprofit organization met

Unknown Speaker 17:34
her she's yeah, great person, great person. I

Unknown Speaker 17:36
mean, she and she Yeah.

Speaker 3 17:39
Yeah, I met her a wonderful, you're one of the events, by the way. gratulations. And all of them, you know, had had the pleasure

Speaker 2 17:45
to be a part of it. Yes, you have been a part of quite a few of the, you

Speaker 3 17:49
know, the cosmichrome Chamber of Commerce is a great, great, we're an organization nothing but accolades to everybody there, you know, I was happened to be there in the beginning with you, you know, and I was had, you know, that pleasure to do some of the marketing. And it's good and so gratulations, you guys and yes, she's a great person. So yeah, yeah,

Speaker 2 18:06
so we're looking forward to this event that we're going to be hosting again, it's on the 20th we've so we've got four speakers that are going to be presenting there, there's gonna be networking opportunities, you're going to be able to meet people in the nonprofit world, the for profit world is volunteer opportunities. We have never had a chamber of commerce, t o a Oh on this show other than our own Chamber of Commerce, but we are featuring another nonprofit organization that's in our space today. It's called the Christian Chamber of Commerce. And for those of us who live in Vegas, in the business community, we love Chambers of Commerce here. And I really love what the Christian Chamber of Commerce stands for. And glomer Moreno is the representative of the chamber Welcome to the business of giving show, but

Unknown Speaker 19:23
I'm very excited to be here. This is probably one of my favorite station that listened to a lot of deaths and a lot of Latin music through UNLV and what they can do you know for the people that love radio shows and stuff so yeah, I'm I'm still one of those old guys that that enjoys the radio.

Unknown Speaker 19:44
You look very young, so it's good.

Unknown Speaker 19:45
It's just your parents. Tell us what what do you do at the Christian Chamber of Commerce,

Unknown Speaker 19:51
the Christian Chamber of Commerce, I always tell people as a Joe that everything knowledge just kind of like it guy that does a little bit of everything. However, my main role essentially I'm the VP of Marketing there. It I love it because it's a great way to really put in practice a lot of my marketing skills, especially when it comes to expanding it's fun Augustus award that I never had in my mind that was gonna have such a value. However, yes, expanding has been become one of my favorite words. And we can see that in many people's life including including valor here pressing, you know, and this the fact that you probably you are ready for just one task however, you will start going to other areas touching in other areas in order like to help and provide value to others. Our chamber is the only one that has created a perspective the focus is on the individual behind the business while many chambers of commerce just work directly with the business focus on membership do so has, you know, are related with the business. In our case, we try to put a little more focus on the individual behind the need, but you know, behind that person many people have money. I mean, many people have resources however, can they be a you know, expendable of things like such as depression suicide situation with, you know, with their kids, etc? And no, not really we all human beings, and it doesn't matter how much money how much resources, how much wealth, you may you may have, you're gonna have situations in your personal life, and their chamber was provides some of the value behind the business, which is focusing a little more in the person behind the business.

Speaker 3 21:52
I got a question for him. If you don't mind me asking, Oh, absolutely. Usually there's a, there's always a seat at the beginning of everything, what inspired you for the commerce for Christian commerce.

Unknown Speaker 22:04
In our chamber, I have become more of, you know, Aaron of the Bible. My mother, she came here by I can believe he was late 2003. knowing English, we never plan to come to this country. It was almost like, basically, just by by it was just faith God had written somewhere. And southern we were here. I will say ironically, the one that even though I came from a contract come from Cuba. And it's really rare to find people that were like English speaking in Cuba, however, I have some vocabulary, I love the culture, I love the music. And she didn't have those resources. So I solemnly made that my mission, my mission was kinda like, like coming here, make sure obviously, as a mother, she was fine. But back in 2007, she had Duck Calling that was to start the chamber. She didn't receive the confirmation and faith by God until 2018, that we started seeing a that, you know, it was the right moment. God was just opening all of the doors for us to make the to get this started, brought in bringing the right people bringing the team at that moment, you know, and I became that Aaron, you know, for a person that didn't have the language for a person that was not only in any business, and all she had, it was just the word of God. All she had, it was just this vision given by God. And by faith, we decided to walk and we decided to start operating. Nothing was just like I said before, nothing was going to confidential. I'm a former musician. It was not until 2013, it went to the Art Institute of Las Vegas. At the beginning, it was just kind of like following or continuing my music production career. But I was like, You know what, I have another site, which is more like craft drawing. And I was like, maybe it's time to touch something else. In our previous recession, we had a problem with many people who wanted to become a recording artist. He was going beyond being just the music person. They were needing somebody behind their media behind their picture behind their graphic design. And I decided to join the Art Institute just on that area to develop that area. Again, the war expanding comes into play my life, you know, and while I was doing that curriculum, I decided to continue expanding more. So I jump into what is called web design. So I started like, you know, going after my interactive media degree, which I finished this in, you know, in the school, and I became that person for the chamber providing that deck Quality, the value to our members, many of them probably met, probably they don't count with our marketing team with a design team. So it is good to be that, you know, provide them that skill, a given them that visual value that we know the need for other people to be attracted to is so somehow that kind of like play that role. During 2020, we all knew that nonsense I happen, you know, politically and everything. So there was a lot of uncertainty, a lot of unsettledness. So, at that point, I joined with another with an instructor was a firearm instructor. And then, you know, I got trained myself, then I realized that Hispanic community was in need of that education. So that is something also that we brought in onto our umbrella, not the use of gun, but the understanding the respect for firearms, as well, of the needing of training and the needing of knowing the law. That became another good resource that we have brought in. So again, the word is pending, plays a role, right?

Speaker 2 26:17
Yeah, I've had great experiences with Christian Chamber of Commerce, I know the value that you guys are bringing to the community Globber. And for those people out there who might be interested in joining your chamber, how can they get in contact with you? And what can they expect when they become a part of this organization that's doing so much to contribute to the community? Yep.

Unknown Speaker 26:38
When it comes to connecting with us, our website is Christian dash chamber.com. We are also easy to find on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, which is their network for professionals. And the expectation expectation that that's a great question. We have a mission that is to unify a lot of faith, faith base and people that wants to contribute with a community. So we're not looking for the quantity, we're looking for the quality, right? We want to make sure to whomever calm Sen can join a mission that is based on honesty, integrity, transparency. This is not the chamber that is just going after, oh, I want to just say no more business, more business by the Chamber doubt wants to be able to focus on your business, and want to make sure that we create that network that is totally trustworthy, that can walk by faith, many people today, it's hard for people to give today, you know, and probably you guys thought that because you know you're in the costumer of commerce. So finding those people who really wants to provide that value by giving is tough. That's quite a challenge. So our main mission is part of like, finding these individuals, you know, and make sure that they can provide this our value to our members, as well as the community. Calamba

Speaker 2 28:03
Moreno is with the Christian Chamber of Commerce, thank you so much for stopping by the business of giving show and continue to go out there and spread the good mojo that you're spreading. I just really enjoy what you are all doing with your chamber of commerce.

Unknown Speaker 28:18
It's a pleasure. Thank you so much for having me in.

Speaker 2 28:21
And I want to thank TOAO for being my guest host today. Do you have a good time, I

Speaker 3 28:26
had a great time. Before we ended, I want to say your mother have a great mother and she raised a good son, because you saw her she had a vision and look where you are. Same thing my mom, you know, my mom's from Mexico. And she she brought me over here and and look where we were sitting this table without her sacrifice in her, you know, her vision. I wouldn't be here. So, you know, tell your mom, your mom raise a good man. So keep doing what you're doing and your initiatives and your goals was gonna be fine. So like you said, with faith, everything's possible you will mountain so good job. And thank you for giving me the pleasure to be amongst you in the same table. Yeah,

Unknown Speaker 29:04
that's right. And it's great to see you know, our cell phone or a mother's right before Mother's Day, right? Yeah, yes.
